The American College of Rheumatology recommends-Tai Chi as one of the nonpharmacologic treatment options for Arthritis.
Researchers at Tufts Medical Center conducted a 12-week follow-up study involving 40 patients in their 60s with knee osteoarthritis, all of whom had a disease history of more than 10 years. One group practiced Tai Chi twice a week for 30 minutes per session, while the other group performed an equivalent amount of conventional stretching exercises.
The results showed that, compared with those who did standard stretching, participants who practiced Tai Chi experienced significantly greater relief from joint pain, reported less depressive mood, and demonstrated better improvements in physical function and overall health.
